Fundraiser

The South Stoke Fete is the main fundraiser for the maintenance of the physical upkeep of our parish church building.

St James the Great is a major feature of the picturesque centre of South Stoke village. The original building dates from the mid-12th century. It has a fine Norman main doorway; the font is at least 700 years old, and the pulpit is considered to be 15th century. The 17th century bells are chimed, not swung, to avoid excessive stress to their original medieval bell frame. Of considerable historical interest, its upkeep and preservation are both costly and of the utmost importance.  South Stoke village is committed to maintaining this beautiful building for the generations to come.

We are also supporting the local charity: Dorothy House. They provide exceptional personalised, compassionate care and support for people in our community with a life-limiting illness. They help people prepare for the end of their lives.
